Preventive Care

Preventive Care

Preventive care includes all of the things that we do at your regular dental checkup to ensure that your teeth stay healthy and strong for a lifetime: cleaning away plaque and tartar buildup,  taking annual x-rays to check for cavities and other problems, and examining your teeth, bite, and gums.

We do our best to put you at ease – and even have a little fun

We know that not everyone feels comfortable in a dentist’s office so we do our best to put you at ease. We’re as passionate about building a fun, warm atmosphere as we are about keeping you healthy. Our hygienists have many years of experience and they are gentle, patient and understanding.

A healthy mouth is part of a healthy body

Preventive care isn’t just about keeping your mouth healthy, your breath fresh, and your smile bright – it’s also about keeping the rest of your body healthy.

The bacteria in your mouth can cause inflammation (gum disease), which is a major cause of tooth loss in adults. And research has shown a link between gum disease and other chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.

According to the Canadian Dental Association, 48% of Canadians who haven’t seen a dentist in the past year have gum disease. The good news is that with regular dental visits, gum disease can be caught early, treated, controlled – and even reversed.

If your gums are red, sore, or bleed easily when you brush, it’s time to visit us for a checkup and cleaning so that we can remove the plaque and bacteria that are irritating your gums, and start you on the path to better oral health.
